Electrification
I’ve been doing a deep dive into ‘electrification’ of homes and buildings. As a member of the Carson City and North Lake Tahoe Citizens’ Climate Lobby chapters, I joined the Electrification teams and am learning quite a bit about how the Inflation Reduction Act will benefit individuals, companies, and cities/towns to retrofit existing structures or in the build of new structures with tax credits and deductions.
For individuals upgrading their homes, this Rewiring of America is a great resource. By upgrading your home you can save up to $20K and you’ll considerably reducing your carbon footprint.
Electrifying homes reduces the carbon footprint by 3/4 if you are attached to a grid which is still using fossil fuels for power... AND, you will reduce your monthly power bills 56%!
I’ve been living with a heat pump for a few months now [mini-split] in the small home I’m renting and it is wonderful. When I move into my tiny home in Silver Springs I will introduce almost all the other items available for electrification of my home.
