Flophouze, Round Top, TX

Flophouze is a recycled shipping containers hotel.

Their uniquely designed interiors are cladded with sustainably harvested barn wood, the windows were salvaged from a school, the cabinets from an old lab, and the counter tops are old bowling alley floors! Round Top appears [to me] to be the funky antique capital of the world so the vintage artifacts throughout the containers were found around town or at their own Recycling the Past business on the property.

I’ve wanted to stay here since the launched the hotel back in 2017. It’s pretty much exactly what I’m hoping to build in Silver Springs. Even the 20’ shipping container pool which was surprisingly great.

Every houze comes with a hammock, firepit, and comfy chairs to relax and enjoy the famous Round Top sunsets which were amazing. The cows visited a couple of times and, even though it was 104° while we were there, we got in a bike ride, went swimming, and explored the tiny town of Round Top [population 93].

Six Flophouzes are available for rentals and they are hoping to complete more soon.
