Living the Off-Grid Dream
I participated in an off-grid weekend workshop at Azhen Sanctuary in Rock Creek, BC from August 25-27th. I have been taking their course for over a year, planning my project through their program, and decided I wanted to visit their land. Their off-grid project was developed for all the same reasons as mine. Broken systems.
Our society lacks community and is mired in greed and tribalism. The results are obvious….poor mental & physical health, fake food, destructive weather events, extinction of flora and fauna, climate change, pollution, wars, etc etc etc.
They created their sanctuary and lifestyle for the sake of their physical health, mental health, environmental health, build communities, and to provide a beautiful new way of living for future generations. It’s a work in progress but they are learning and advancing their 160 acre property into a self sufficient, natural, water plentiful community. Several tiny homes, wall tents, and communal areas are supported by a water well, humaneur bathrooms, a garden, glamping, and classes and workshop weekends.
They explain how they did it and what they’ve learned with actionable systems and step-by-step guides. All from a journey that started with no land, practically no money, and poor credit ratings.
I met so many wonderful people who are all on the same page as I am. True future community builders that believe in earth stewardship. These will be lifelong friends. Plus, I learned so much about finding financial partners, ownership contracts, fundraising, building in phases, strategy, permaculture, and cash flow. I know I can translate this into my dream immediately.
